Israeli Salad

Today I want to introduce this new place of our blog about recipes with a very special recipe and the symbol of israeli food. Israeli salad is a chopped salad of finely diced tomatoonioncucumber, and bell or chili peppers. "Distinguished by the tiny diced tomatoes and cucumbers," it is described as the "most well-known national dish of Israel and is a key part of a traditional Israeli breakfast.

Ingredients :

_2 Tomatoes

_2 Cucumber

_1 Onions

_Parsley

_Salt & Pepper

_Leafy green

_Scallions

_Bell pepper

_Coriander if you want, for the oriental touch.

The salad is dressed with either fresh lemon juice or olive oil, or both. Za'atar and yogurt are very common dressings at breakfast, while sumac and tahini are common the rest of the day.

The key is using very fresh vegetables and chopping them as finely as possible!

Falafel

Falafel is a traditional Middle Eastern food that originated in Egypt. It is commonly served in a pita, which acts as a pocket, or wrapped in a flatbread known as taboon; "falafel" also frequently refers to a wrapped sandwich that is prepared in this way.

The falafel balls are topped with salads, pickled vegetableshot sauce, and drizzled with tahini-based sauces

It's also a very good vegan meal because it's based on chickpeas.

Ingredients :

_1 15-ounce (425 g) can chickpeas, rinsed, drained and patted dry

_1/3 cup (15 g) chopped fresh parsley (or sub cilantro)

_4 cloves garlic, minced

_2 shallots, minced (~ 3/4 cup, 65 g | or sub white onion)

_Raw sesame seeds

_1 1/2 tsp cumin, for more taste

Put in hot oil during 4-5 minutes.

Serve warm with garlic-dill sauce or hummus, inside a pita with desired toppings or atop a bed of greens. For exemple the amazing and fresh salad that we saw last week.

Family's Maroccan Fish

  Ingredients :

  _½ cup canola oil

_1 large red bell pepper, seeded and sliced into thin strips

  _4-5 large ripe tomatoes, diced

_1 head of garlic, cloves peeled

_1 bunch cilantro, chopped (rough stems discarded)

  _1 tablespoon paprika, divided

  _½ teaspoon turmeric, divided

_½ teaspoon salt (or to taste), divided

  _3 dried red chili peppers

  _½ cup water

_6 tilapia or other firm white fish fillets           (not salmon).

In a large deep skillet, add ¼ cup of the canola oil and heat up for a couple of minutes over medium heat. Add the bell pepper and tomatoes to the oil and cook for a few minutes until soft. And then add the garlic, turn down the heat and continue cooking for a few minutes longer. Add ¼ of the cilantro, ½ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon turmeric, ¼ teaspoon salt, the chili peppers and water and cook with a lid on, stirring occasionally, for approximately 20 minutes.

In a separate bowl combine the remaining oil, paprika, turmeric, salt and cilantro. Dip each fish fillet and coat well with the mixture. Add the fish fillets to the sauce on the stove. Scrape the remainder of the mixture from the bowl on top of the fish fillets, cover with a lid and cook for approximately 20 minutes longer or until the fish is cooked. Serve each fillet hot topped with some of the sauce and cooked bell pepper.
